Mack Series 2 Bicentennial Superliners were a limited-edition series of trucks produced by Mack Trucks Australia in 1988 to commemorate Australia’s bicentenary. These trucks were painted in green and gold and named after Australian historical figures who helped shape this great country that we live in.
Originally there was to be 20 trucks produced and the customer had a choice to choose a name from a list of 40 approved names. Trucks were named after famous explorers like Burke & Wills and Ludwig Leichhardt, British naval officers like Cook & Phillips and even some of Australian bad boys like Kelly, Hall & Thunderbolt.
In the end only 16 trucks were produced. It has been long rumoured that the 17th truck which was ordered but never completed was to be named after another of Australia’s bad boys… the notorious Irish born bushranger, Captain Moonlite.
Drake Collectibles have produced this truck exclusively for the 2025 Diecast Model Expo. The replica follows the original truck schemes but as per previous Expo releases the main truck colour has been changed to suit the traditional Satin Black.
