One of the many attractions of attending the Diecast Model Expo, for every diecast collector, is the exclusive models made available during the event.
We are very excited to let you know about some of the highly collectable models that will be available during the 2013 Diecast Model Expo and whether you collect Ford or Holden diecast models in 1:18, 1:43 or 1:64 scales, there will certainly be a die cast model you won’t be able to go home without.
In the Expo Room, the headquarters of the Diecast Model Expo, there will be a variety of models available for every attendee to purchase. These will be available throughout the event and will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Therefore, it’s best to be early.
In addition to the Event Models, each special ‘Expo Event’ will also have an exclusive diecast model available. Should you attend the Friday Night or Saturday night Gala dinner, you will have the opportunity to be one of the first to own one of these very exclusive diecast model releases.
Apex Replicas – 1:18 scale 2012 Australian GT Series Audi R8 LMS
We are very proud to present this stunning looking Audi R8 LMS. Lowndes developed a strong association with Audi after spear-heading two Bathurst 12hr assaults, while also driving an Audi in Europe. Lowndes drove the ‘One World’ sponsored Audi R8 LMS for a one-off appearance during the Phillip Island round of the 2012 Australian GT series and won the opening race on Saturday. This was backed-up by claiming third place in Sunday’s race behind two impressive SLS Mercedes-Benz. Only 400 pieces of these high-quality resin models will be produced by Spark, in conjunction with Apex Replicas. Available to registered attendees during the event for $195 during the event, each model will also come with a numbered and signed certificate of authenticity by Craig Lowndes.
1:18 Biante – Driven by one of Australia’s most well-known race car drivers. This ATCC competitor will be the envy of every collector who doesn’t attend in order to claim one of these models for their collection.
Classic Carlectables – 1:18 scale Holden VY SS Custom Sandman Panelvan in Devil Yellow with ‘Wild’ decal kit. The iconic Holden Sandman Panelvan was not just a classic car but a way of life to many in the 1970’s. Holden took a commercial vehicle and dressed it up with the distinct stripes and legendary Sandman tailgate graphic. This sporned a lifestyle and cult following that is still popular today. Holden by design tapped into this cult figure by releasing an optional hard canopy to the VY ute range.
Needles to say, it was too difficult to resist the temptation to produce a modern day retro version of this iconic car. Painted in the bright Devil Yellow and overlayed with the contrasting bright blue stripe and Sandman artwork, it’s sure to add something special to your diecast model collection. The ‘Mild’ artwork as seen on the side in a darker shade of yellow is there to excite the eyes, and for the ‘Wild’ a special set of bold blue waterslide decals can be applied to make this model burst with colour (supplied with model). This retro Custom Sandman is rolling on 20in wheels for that tuff street look. The interior was not forgotten with the bright blue beach theme making its way onto the seat and door inserts. The blue dash is another subtle special feature. Now if that was not special enough, you get a Sandman inspired surfboard to display with your model. Oh yeah, the number plate is just too kool as well. This model will be available for $215 to all registered attendees during the 2013 Diecast Model Expo.
Classic Carlectables – 1:43 scale 2005 Ford BA Falcon, Triple 8 Racing, V8 Supercar driven by Craig Lowndes in Round 6 at Shanghai, China (LG livery). In 2005 Craig Lowndes joined the Triple 8 Race Engineering team with major backing from Betta Electrical. The car featured a striking yellow on blue livery. But when the V8 Supercar show landed in Shanghai, China in 2005, the #888 car was very different. Major sponsor Betta Electrical had been replaced with electrical company LG electronics. The striking yellow was replaced with silver to aid the special promotion.
It was a historic move by V8 supercars to venture to China and the team did not miss the opportunity to signify this with their special round livery. This model will be available to all registered attendees during the 2013 Diecast Model Expo for $55.
Classic Carlectables – 1:64 scale Triple Eight Race Engineering. 2013 Holden Commodore Car of the Future. Check out this little piece of history! With the Car of the Future (COTF) program set to roll out in 2013, Triple Eight Race Engineering were never going to waste time producing the companies evolution of the Holden Commodore. The new prototype impressed immediately with its distinct camouflage style livery, but much changed by the time the new cars arrived at Sydney Motorsport Park for the 2013 pre-season test. Red Bull livery, VF body shaping and a new aero package was what greeted the fans. Produced by Classic Carlectables in 1:64 scale, this exclusive model will be a great addition to your collection for only $19.95 and will begin the story behind the COTF program.
1:64 Scale – A great car driven by a great driver, who would ultimately go on to own his own team. We go back in time and take a look back at an Aussie race car and celebrate a career and an era of Australian motor racing lost in the history books.
1:43 Scale – An iconic car driven by an iconic driver will make this never before produced model a collector’s item. Attend the Gala Dinner on Saturday night, and not only will you have the exclusive opportunity to purchase one of these models for your collection, but you will also enjoy being in the company of driver of this vehicle, as the special guest for the evening.
Classic Carlectables – 1:18 scale Holden VY SS Custom Sandman in Satin Black – 2013 DME Pursuit Model (Volunteer Model) Volunteers are often reminded their assistance can be a rewarding pastime. But for volunteers at the 2013 Diecast Model Expo, there will be more in store for you than just the feel-good factor. You will receive one of these outstanding Classic Carlectables 1:18 scale models of a Holden VY SS ‘Custom Sandman’ panel van in Satin Black (item #18523) – free of charge, for you to keep or do with as you please. A certified limited edition of only 60 pieces will be produced, although this model will not be available for sale during the event as it is intended to be an exclusive reward to volunteers, and those who provide outstanding assistance in the organisation of the 2013 Diecast Model Expo.
1:43 Scale – Go back to an era when motor racing was uncomplicated and all about horsepower and handling. This fat hipped replica will only be available in very limited numbers to members of the trade who attend and/or ‘Room Trade’ during the 2013 Diecast Model Expo.
