The First Decade
The diecast model expo is almost 10 years old! The concept of bringing collectors and makers of models together was brought to life on the Gold Coast back in August 2011. The last expo was at Parramatta in 2018 and we anticipated the next in 2021. As we all know too well, this Covid pandemic has put a wrecking ball through many events and lives of people.
So to plan a full blown event in 2021 was near impossible. But we really wanted to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We are going to look back over the years of Expo events and we have some very cool models to celebrate our milestone.
We will be making announcements as soon as we can so keep an eye on our newsletters, facebook page and our all new website.
"A look over the past 10 years"
DME event is born
The diecast model expo made its debut in 2011 on the sunny Gold Coast. It took a stack of planning and with great support from collectors and the makers of models the Expo event was a great success. Time certainly flys and we have seen many changes that have occurred in our hobby in 10 years. The inclusion of special guests allowed collectors to get there models personally signed. We will look closer at our guests over the next few months.
Today, I just wanted to look back at the first expo, and think about the great time we all had. To see all the makers/distributors on show and conversing with the hardcore collectors was a fantastic way for both to understand each other better. The exclusive expo events were so much fun, the Bogan Bingo boys has us all in stitches!
I also want to thank all the amazing volunteers we have had over the years, as they have made every expo run smoothly. We now have a solid group of guys eagerly awaiting there next challenge.
