Diecast Model Expo - Workshop Presentations (Free for all registered attendees)

Presented by 'Dr' Rob Smith

The Diecast Magazines resident expert on all things customized will be on hand during the Expo to present 'How To' workshops.

These workshops will be presented in the Main Expo hall and are free for all registered attendees. A full schedule on times will be available closer to Expo. 'Dr' Rob will also be available to answer any other custom modelling questions you may have during the event.

The following workshops will be presented during Expo:

One of the pitfalls in custom building is the lack of 'off the shelf' performance components that completes that perfect build.... Here we will design and build from scratch a set of kick ass extractors/ headers that will turn heads in disbelief.

Have you ever noticed that when buying a diecast replica, most if not all of them just give you the one option of a manual gear shift?....Here we will go through the steps of how to create a 'pro-stock' automatic shifter that 'B&M Shifters' themselves will love.

There's nothing worse than trying to pull down a model and breaking bits along the way, in this presentation we will go on the hunt to find where those little tiny screws hide that keep them all together and the best way to dismantle a model.

Yes pulling a model down is one thing, but to put it all back together can be a little challenging to say the least. Here we will got through the steps of assembling certain bits that can sometimes try your patience.

A lot of time can be wasted re-doing custom parts that you have designed yourself, but learning the crafty art of moulding can be the best time saver in reproducing that special one off piece that you can't get anywhere else.

Custom Model Competition (Free to enter for all registered attendees)

If you’re crazy about customizing your models, why not enter the 2015 Diecast Model Expo - Custom Model Competition? We have received many inquiries from collectors with the customizing bug asking about specific details.

As for rules and categories, it is very simple. All we ask is that the model entered for judging be mostly diecast metal. As for the categories, these will simply be 1:64, 1:43, 1:18 and Sundry scales. The Sundry scale category is for any other scale and machinery. If you are a willing participant for the Custom Model Competition, we look forward to seeing you at the 2015 Diecast Model Expo registering your entry for free in the Custom Model Competition. All entries will close at 2pm Saturday September 26th, 2015.

There is a limit of two models per participant is one category, unless space allows. There are trophies and prizes awarded to the winner and runner up in all four categories. Winners are chosen by attendees voting. And Presentation is on Sunday 27th September 2015 at 11am.
